Devonport, at the mouth of the Mersey River is the business and retails centre for the rich farmland of the Mersey Forth region, and the commercial centre for the municipalities of Devonport, Ulverstone, Latrobe, Sheffield and Railton.
Once referred to as the Gateway of Tasmania, it is the major passenger port of the state with the Spirit of Tasmania ferries arriving daily from Melbourne.
The 7AD and SEAFM devonport broadcast area is home to more than 66,000 people.
